New camcorder? I am going to be mass producing a short DVD, so I need to buy a new camcorder. I need something that on the final copy, I will have decent picture quality, and good sound on the DVD. I have a tight budget, but I am looking for good quality as a dvd.

How do I hook my new camcorder to my computer? I bought a new canon mini camcorder and I want to upload my videos from it to my computer. Trouble is, the cord that connects it to the computer is not a usb connection. It's something called firefly which my computer does not have. How can I upload my vids to my computer? So far, I can only watch them on a tv. Sorry, I meant firewire, not firefly! lol
What should I look for in a new camcorder? I new a new camcorder and don't know what features to look for. I will be using it to film my kids playing soccer and marching in the band so need to be able to zoom in.
Needing help in picking a new camcorder and what type to buy? I am looking to purchase a new camcorder. I currently own a panasonic VHS-C camcorder. Right now I am recording on these tapes and then dubbing them with my DVD recorder. I run my own website and I want to put videos on my website. Here is what I would need: - Good night recording, for fireworks and such - Good day quality recording - Image stabilization - Good sound recording - Fairly easy to use - Prefer small over large body - Ability to put video onto website pretty easily, not a must - Good battery life - Good zoom Still photos are not important to me. I heard that with Mini DV you can plug into DVD recorder with a cable and record the video onto the DVD. I was originally looking into a DVD-cam, but the DVD-cam reviews don't seem to be good. I don't know which I should get. I'm also not sure which models are the best. I prefer to stay under $400, so I would like to know the best models under $400, I'm willing to go higher, so better models would be welcome. Editing is not something I will need to do with my video, so I don't think that a hard drive cam is right for me. The most important things for me is the overall video quality, something that record good/great in most situations. Second, I want to be able to get my video on media that is universal. This is why the DVD cam interested me at first, but have since changed my mind based on reviews. But I heard on TV that there is a cable that can be plugged into my DVD player and I can record directly from the camera to DVD. Is this true and if so, is this cable included? Any more advice on what camera to get would really be appreciated. I'm trying to get an idea of my options before I make my purchase.
How do I transfer whats on a videotape to my new Sony camcorder NOT just by recording the TV screen? Hi - I had an older camcorder - it was an analog sony handycam of the late nineties - and there was a way to put it in VTR mode (i think thats what it was called...when you put it in the mode to watch the vids) there was a way to hook it up to the tv press a couple camcorder buttons simultaneously so that the picture on the television was transferred to the camcorder and you could record it directly by using the cable and pressing a few buttons. I cannot figure out how to do this with my new camcorder - it's a sony digital DCRHC36 (it takes those little mini-tapes) and i've resorted to filming the screen but that just is not working (fuzzy pic, stripes, outside noise, etc) does anyone know how to do with the new camcorder what i was able to do with the old one? THANKS!
To Buy a new Camcorder or stick with old 8mm? I currently have a Sanyo CCD-TRV87 8mm Video cassette recorder. It needs a new battery, but other than that it works fine. I would actually end up purchasing two new batteries for it, as we have a few family vacations planned. I am considering spending around $300 - $350 for a new standard definition video camcorder. It is worth the investment to purchase a new digital camcorder or just spend the money and replace the batteries and keep the old unit. Thanks!
Need a new camcorder, not sure where to start? I need a new camcorder, preferably under $500. It doesn't need to be too fancy, and I would also really appreciate something that doesn't take too long to ship (or maybe something I could pick up at Bestbuy). Anything helps. Thanks!

I need to buy a new camcorder? After 12 years I now need to buy a new camcorder. I'm only familiar with the old tape ones. How do you get a recording from the little digital camcorders to view on television like the old ones? They all say they have a memory card? Sounds like a lot of trouble to go thru the computer and then onto a DVD type thing? We have always viewed our recordings on our tv and I still want to do it that way. Which ones are good quality picture and sound and inexpensive? Thanks to all of you!
Why wont old tapes play back on my new camcorder? I've just used my camcorder to play back a recent tape taken no more than a year ago. After switching to an older 8mm tape, taken about 10 years ago, nothing but the blue screen is showing. The tapes do not seem to be broken or damaged in any visible way so why is this happening?

When is sony going to come out with a new HDR camcorder? I really want an hdr fx1000 but im afraid that sony will be putting out a new hdr camcorder soon being that is has bee 4 years since the fx1000 has been out. The main reason why i am concerned is because the hdr fx1000 is a bit out dated, not drastically but it lacks a few of newer technologies such as the xlr sound compatibility.

Need suggestions on buying a new camcorder? ? Hey, I'm getting a camcorder for my birthday, and I'm finding it hard to chose one. I like the whole new HD thing, think it's great, but I am mostly looking for a camcorder that's not too expensive but has the 24p style included, so that I can add a more cinematic look to my home movies. The Canon HV30 seemed like the perfect camera, but it's a bit expensive. Any cheaper suggestions, open to anything really... Thanks!
What software to copy camcorder DVDs to my computer, edit them, and write them to a new DVD? I have several mini (8cm) DVDs which have been recorded on by a DVD camcorder - what software should I use to copy the videos onto my computer, edit them, and write them back to a different DVD? A few notes to bear in mind: - the DVDs are formatted in VR mode as opposed to Video mode, and I'd want to write back to a new DVD in Video mode so the software would have to be able to deal with both and do any nessecary conversions - the different clips are all stored in one title and are split by chapters, and I'd want each chapter separated into different files - the videos are recorded at different qualities and aspect ratios, so the software would have to be able to deal with 4:3 and 16:9 at various quality levels, and preferably convert between them - I currently have a distinct lack of disk space, so a program which saved to disk with uncompressed AVI wouldn't much use as I'd run out of disk space far too fast. Any questions, please don't hesitate to message me.
How do I copy a video I took on my camcorder onto a new DVD? The video I took is already on a disk compatible with the TV, but I wanted to copy it as a gift to one of my friends. How would I do that? Are there specific programs for the computer or devices for the TV that I need to purchase in order to do this? Thank you in advance! =]
