What is a good digital SLR camera for beginners?
I would like buy a digital SLR camera for my husband for Christmas this year. I would like to spend less than $700 or not much more. I'm not sure which camera would be best suited for us. At Best Buy, the salesman recommended the Nikon SLR D40 - should I be concerned that it's only 6 megapixles? What camera would you recommend I get? (If it would be super if you could provide a link to the camera you recommend!) Thanks!

- The Nikon D40 is a great transition camera for going from point-and-shoot to your first dSLR. Now, if you would actually like a semi-pro camera for $729.99 at Best Buy on sale go with the Canon Xsi. go to either cnet.com or dpreview.com for reviews. check this website out for sample photos: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS450D/page35.asp
- I would suggest that you check out the Digital SLR Guide website - http://www.digital-slr-guide.com/index.html They are geared toward matching a user to an appropriate DSLR using a step by step approach to finding a good match. They provide a number of valuable tools to help sort out the huge amount of information put out by the camera makers. Their business model is to sell inexpensive on-line photography courses to users so they provide good guidance in the hopes of gaining customers who want to get the most out of a DSLR. They also seem to provide pretty good reviews of various cameras and up to date news on product releases & problems. A 6MP camera will be fine, check out the information from DSLR guide on this topic - http://www.digital-slr-guide.com/define-megapixels.html HTH. Good luck. Email me if you have specific questions.
- Choose a great camera from the list at http://cameras.santasgiftsallyear.com the cameras are free after you complete some offers and refer a few friends. This is no scam, it's completely legit.
- All accessories of all kind of digital cameras are available.
