How often do you buy new camera when you already have one?

I got this camera for Christmas and its like three years old yeah its officially three years old, but i never hooked on the wrist its scratched up slightly and i was wondering if its ridiculous to buy a new one. so i can be a little more careful and by a case for it on the spot or very quickly. so plese comment my on what to do. thanks.

  1. Hi, True answer - too often! For you, if the camera works - why change it? A few (small or minor) scratches will not affect its picture taking quality. If you want a camera as a fashion accessory - of course go ahead and buy new. You could always get a new case - camera will look new when you carry it around - and it won't cost too much. 2. I don't buy new cameras very often but when I buy a camera I research it a great deal before I buy one. The last camera I bought was a $500 Canon Powershot G10 - I bought it as soon as it was available. I wanted the best resolution I could get in a camera that cost $500 and the "G10" was it. However, my next camera will probably be a $3,000 Nikon D700 and a $1,700 lens - I'm semi-pro - which is one of the reasons I research my cameras before I buy them. If you were going to spend thousands of dollars on a camera wouldn't you? If your camera works for you just keep it. If you want a better one get a better one and keep the one you have as a backup, sell it, give it to a friend, or donate it to charity. New compact digital cameras are pretty good compared to what they used to be.
