Camera New

I just got a new SLR camera, the Nikon D60; Any tips/help?

This is my first SLR camera and i'm sort of stumped on all of the features. Each time I try to take a picture of myself in portrait it comes out to bright, it does that for some of the other modes as well. Also, when I take pictures of scenery with, say, landscape mode; it doesn't come out as detailed and high quality as I expected it to be. I need help on what the aperature, exposure, ISO, etc mean and how to set them right. In other words: give me all the explanations you have. Thanks.

  1. It is time to do some studying... a lot of it, actually. Start with the manual. Read it, then go practice. Repeat that process many times. We all need to read our manuals many times because we keep learning something new every time. Go to your library and bring home a stack of books, cruise the internet for tutorials, attend a class. You can't expect us to teach you in a few sentences about a subject that has countless books written about it. It takes time and effort, but YOU need to be the one to do it.
