  1. I recommend a Nikon D40 (second-hand as you can't buy them brand new anymore, but you might get one on Ebay brand new?) this was Nikon's entry level SLR for beginners and it's very easy to use. It has preset modes as well like Sports Mode and Landscape Mode so you can turn the wheel and shoot! If you want an SLR and you want it for your daughters sports i think this would be perfect!! You can also look at a Nikon D60 (they still sell these!) they are the new entry level DSLR from Nikon and are as easy as the D40 to use but with added extras. If you prefer Canon try the EOS 1000D as this is Canon's equivalent to the D60. It'll take you 20 mins to read the manual and 20 mins to play around and you'll be ready to go. They make a wide range of lenses and accessories so you can change and experiment. I recommend finding a D40 or D60 that comes with a double lens kit and this will contain an all-round lens (18-55mm) and a small sports/wildlife lens (55-200mm) perfect for beginner sports!! Hope that helps. Try Ebay, Amazon and Warehouse Express as a last resort Jessops (They're expensive!)
  2. SLR's take a lot of learning my suggestion go to the links below for help http://www.adorama.com/alc/ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camera-buying-guide http://www.dynamicgraphics.com/dgm/Article/28819 http://www.pcworld.com/article/125645/how_to_buy_a_digital_camera.html
  3. So when you mention DSLRS you know their price. Without going that high probably about $350+ shipping on line I suggest the Canon SX10 IS. Very good image quality, a super zoom at 20X optical, 10 megapixels. Important though is the aperture/shutter priority. You can set your shutter speed for moving shots + zoom in. This camera is excellent on batteries.
  4. I would recommend Nikon D3000 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
  5. Yes and no. DSLR's have a point and shoot mode that makes them very easy to learn. They also have Manual, Aperture priority, and Shutter priority that can be challenging to learn. Then there is Program mode that is somewhere in between. The advantage to buying a DSLR is that you can start out easy and then when you are ready, you can get deeper into photography.
  6. Nikon D40 6.1MP $471.98 Sony Alpha A200K 10.2MP $499 and more you may see here more model to choose and cheap more you want. [astore.amazon.com/best-inexpensive -digital-camera-low-price-20]
  7. I recommend the Nikon D3000
