Camera New

Would you purchase a new digital camera to bring on a cruise?

I wonder about the security of bringing a new digital camera on a 7 Day Cruise to the south Carribean. I worry about someone going out of their way to steal it! You hear all this negative stuff about the security on crusises....Is this something I should worry about? It's a Royal Carribean - Adventure of the Seas. I have an older digi but want to get a nice one for some better pictures.

  1. well if you laready want a new camera and your going on a cruise mine as well just get a new one .. youll be glad you did.
  2. no more than they would steal anything else, didgital cameras are everywhere these days
  3. I would bring it.... just lock it in your room safe when you aren't using it and keep it by you (you'll probably want to take as many pictures as possible)
  4. I wouldn't worry about it at all. I've been on 3 cruises, and I've never had a problem with anything getting stolen. You're not going to want to put it down on a public table and walk away, but as long as you're careful and keep an eye on it (without freaking out and being anal about it) you should be fine. I'd be more concerned in the ports of call. Carry it with you at all times, and then just stow it away in a drawer in the cabin if you're not going to be in it (the cabin) and you don't want to bring it with you.
  5. ya i would i just got home on holidays and had just a cheap camera and i wish i would of had more pics taken it is worth is especailly when u will have all the scenery of the water and the beautiful night skies it is worth it why not i wouldnt worry about it getting stolen if u r worried about that just dont leave it laying around get one of those things that wrap around yr neck
  6. There's no real reason why an older camera can't take good pictures. I had a 1950's Werra and it worked fine, until the lens got smashed. If you learn some of the basics of picture construction, then ALL your photographs should look better, and you won't have to worry about having a much more expensive camera that you don't really need.
  7. I would purchase the camera...it's a sort of investment. And cruises should be remembered. A lot of theft in general can really be blamed on the owner for stupid stuff...like negletfully being obvious about leaving stuff around
  8. its all depends on which one you get. If you just want it for happy snaps..... go for it..... They are so damned convenient. And for this purpose you don't need to break the bank....... and get something too expensive.....
  9. I would If you want to buy one I went on one cruise Nothing of ours got stolen or came up missing
  10. Yes I would buy a new camera. Picture's are worth alot now day's. If you don't, you will be sorry because, your going to want all the picture's you can get on this tip,I say. There are so many beautiful picture's you can come home with for memory's that you were there, right? I don't believe any one is going to steal it at all, just don't put it some where and for get it! If you did for get it some where, I believe some one nice would turn it in as losted and you would get it back on a tip like that,I feel. There is to many thing's going on in the world today that is so sick and down right sad to worry about that,ya? Just go and have some fun and remember your camera for good good memory's,ok. Take care and please let us know how it turned out. God be with you. Sharon
  11. I have done 5 cruises and never had a problem with anything being stolen, nor do I know anyone that had anything stolen. I do carry my camera with me everywhere when traveling--you never know when there will be a Kodak moment. If you want a new camera, go ahead and get it, but if the old one takes good photos, use it. I personally like my 35 mm and got some phenomenal shots with it last month in Alaska
