What kind of slr camera is good for me?

I want an slr camera, not just a digital one. Im an amature so I want something that is good to start off with and not too expensive. Im into photo journals. I wouldnt mind having to do some homework to figure out how every thing on the camera works.

  2. Look for a nice used (less than 15 years old) Nikon or Canon 35mm SLR with lens. They can be found for under $250 on craigslist in a city near you.   5. Used on B&H /craiglist New the Nikon FM10 is hard to beat.

Not sure what you mean by not just a digital one, the canon eos 20D/30D can be picked up cheaply and produces good results, if you are looking at film then any good condition used canon/nikon SLR should be ok, although if you are looking at a canon, if it is older than about 10 years then beware that the rubber around the shutter can degrade causing the shutter to stick, this has happened on my EOS 100 (EOS Elan in US). Canon has the largest range of lenses, although the choice between nikon and canon is probably just a case of which one you get on best with.

  8. my friend has a CANON rebel XT and he does some awsome suff with it. Another friend has an XTi Another friend has a 30d Im sure you could find a used XT for a good price. Or. . . have you seen the G9? oh man. . . a revolutionary camera right there. A point and shoot style with the control of an SLR. . . anyway, im going to clean myself up now. . .
